The first edition of Eclipse was one of my favorite 4X games: it had some problems with tech balance (partially fixed by expansions) but it was a solid game that I loved playing.
This new edition is even better: The strongest upgrades in the first edition have been made more expensive or weaker, opening up a lot more viable ship builds. Many other tweaks to faction and tile distribution improve balance further. The game plays slightly faster, AND it even comes with trays for everything, cutting down setup and cleanup time.
