In-built Bluetooth and WiFi connections give Zero W a big advantage as many projects utilise them and previous version of the miniaturised Pi need be decorated with extra dongles to get to the same functionality.
I used mine with the official red and white case as an IP camera which works great without any dongles attached. Price for a Pi Zero plus a WiFi/Bluetooth dongle is the same as the price for Zero W so it's no brainer...
