“This is the second time I've had to replace this part on my Silvia machine. Replacement was easy, it fits machine perfectly. However, No other parts have needed to be replaced at all. The plastic cowling isn't very durable and the chrome peels within a year or two. Metal cowling would be far preferable to a plastic one that tries to look like metal.”

Originally, Rancilio used a stamped steel cowling, but updated to the chrome-plated plastic. The plastic cowling is prettier than the original metal cowling, but is far less durable. The posts where the screws go can break off and the chrome will peel within 5 years.”
