“To sum up, Larsen Magnacore Arioso strings 1) give the most glorious overtones, 2) superb response to the bow and 3) sing with beauty and clarity. When tested on my Jay Haide cello, I noticed the following factors. The A string gives a full, bright sound with richness and beauty: almost a “joyous” sound. The D has a matching brightness as far as the neck and then warms up quite nicely. The C & G speak out clearly and with plenty of power. Their instant and beautiful responsiveness to my bow strokes amazed me. It's a most rewarding experience to play on these strings.
Clearly from the price, they are aimed at the advanced and professional cello market: however, I find they are the most helpful strings for beginner and intermediate cellists, in terms of 1/ their excellent response to the bow, making it easier to learn bowing techniques, and make a good sound (that's important); and 2/ they really open up the sound of the cello to make every note wonderfully clear: their "overtones" and harmonic resonance work to help you understand and adapt to good intonation (playing in tune) better than any other strings I've ever tried. Larsen Magnacore Arioso strings are my main recommendation to my own students.”
