Read this if you’re thinking of using Raileasy, Trainsplit (same company) Splitticketing (same company) or any ticket retailer claiming to save you £££s. If you’ve already used Raileasy and you’re having problems DON’T under any circumstances use their 0906 contact number!! Its a premium rate that will set you back over £1 a minute, probably a lot more depending on who your phone provider is. If you really have to call them use their 0871 number or better still email them. Their email address is somewhere on this page. Companies like Raileasy take more money from customers making them call their 0906 numbers! I read some reviews and although I wound up not using Raileasy for my journey, I’ve used other companies like them and can tell you that the booking fees and admin fees are from the train companies. The minute you click on pay and get confirmation that the booking has been successful you're liable for the fees if you need to cancel. In fairness ticket retailers like Raileasy can’t do anything about that. You can’t change travel thats already been booked, you can only ask for a refund on what you’ve already paid for and then you’ll have to book the journey again, that is standard practice. In other words, if you make a mistake and realise a minute later after the payments gone through that you put the wrong date in or something similar, then you’re just going to have to book the journey again and try to get a refund for the one you messed up. On top of that some tickets are not refundable at all (Advance tickets) unless you book another journey and you can’t ask for a refund until you do! Its all very complicated so read the terms and conditions for fares and travel on the National Rail website before booking, especially with companies like Raileasy who don’t exactly make it obvious about fare types or how long refunds take before you pay. The other thing they don’t want you to know about before you give them your money is – and this is really important – if your train is cancelled because of ‘engineering works’ and the works were already planned before you booked, the ticket retailers won’t take responsibility. They say it’s the customer who should be checking if their train is still running before the day of travel. REFUNDS. If you have to claim a refund its going to take WEEKS before you get your money back no matter what the reason. And it doesn’t if you’ve had a medical emergency or bereavement which stopped you from using the tickets, you’ll still have to wait. What’s more, if you can’t travel because of an emergency and your tickets were the Advance tickets, unless you book another identical journey, they won’t pay out a refund. Go and check National Rail fares and T&Cs before you book with any ticket retailer and please don’t use the 0906 number, its a con!
