It’s a long but honest one, maybe bedtime reading material - sorry! I am one of the fortunate ones who have had a few healthy amount wins but be under no illusion I have had my fair share of losses too. I’ve won purchasing just a few tickets (and sometimes a lot)- it seems completely random and unpredictable. I am Welsh and personally know many other who have won but the competition roots were grown in wales and we represent the majority of participants (for now atleast). There are periods where the same winners repeatedly win (they win and put all the winnings back in max out ticket limits increase their chances and win bigger). It is really annoying/frustrating and sometimes is predictable but It’s their money they can do as they please - no hate needed. Vortex can’t be completely blamed for this, they are a business and aren’t going to be against this method of playing and at the end of the day ‘the house will always win’. Vortex are transparent that this method is often used stating (after the draw) big winners did infact max out ticket sales or bought more tickets than anyone else. However on Vortex SM they do state ALL comps have set ticket limits at 5-10% but this isn’t true and while it could be misleading, ticket limits can be clearly found on each competition. Vortex have built an extraordinary community and despite alot of people never winning, they will be the first to wish you luck and congratulate on a win. Liam must be given credit for his online presence and community engagement - it is no surprise he had a successful career within sales. Vortex can reply in a rude/passive aggressive/dismissive manner when people complain/disagree (backed by their fierce supporters) which is always disappointing to see as sometimes it would be helpful to atleast acknowledge their customers views in order to continue to improve and appeal to all (everyone likes to be felt listened too). Navigating the site and purchasing tickets is really easy (far too easy and you could easily spend more than you intent or can afford). It does sometimes feel vortex is stuck in an identity crisis between a local ‘for fun’ competition and a growing ‘for profit gambling’ business (donating to local charities, schools and sponsoring kids sports team yet encouraging people to buy more tickets all day everyday) having said that I do think vortex’s intentions are in a good place with a genuine thrill out of making people happy and even changing their lives over their own personal wealth and profits. Unfortunately as vortex has continued to grow it feels like they have failed to grow their acknowledgement of responsibility to ensure safer gambling though (they do have a self exclusion feature). Vortex must be praised for their advertisements and clever marketing in a way that gives the illusion everyone wins which is helped by their ‘community’. Odds of winning are far better than the lottery and other similar sites but as with all gambling - yes lots of people win everyday but don’t be ignorant to the fact that there are always far more participants than winners and rarely are our losses posted. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from atleast giving vortex ago, they are genuine, fair and transparent which has enabled them to steadily grow in popularity but obviously don’t take it to serious and just have a little bit of fun with whatever you can afford to lose!
