My story is familiar to readers of earlier reviews. I noticed the unfamiliar charges to my credit card of $1.25, followed by $34.95 and didn't recognize the payee https://mhscsnow.com. The simplistic website at that address was for something called billingsupport (one word, all lower case). The phone number on the site, 833-747-5736, looks like a U.S. number, but the address on the site is in "London, England." I called the number, and the person I spoke to readily agreed to cancel my membership--which I had never signed up for--and said I would be added to a blacklist that would keep me from being charged again. He was vague about how the firm got my credit card number but said ActivateVPN is a virtual private network. I have no idea whether that's true, but I already have VPN service from elsewhere and certainly didn't need another. When I asked, he agreed to refund the charges and said it would take a few days to show up on my credit card account. When I asked where he was located, he replied, "Macau." It figures. One other point: I don't know how this Reviews.io site calculates positives and negatives, but all reviews appear to be from 1-star reviewers who say they were ripped off and 5-star reviewers identified by the site as "verified reviewers." I would be willing to bet all the 5-star reviewers are verified phonies.
