After being a loyal ADT customer for over five years and paying nearly £11,000 for a Bandit system and security panel, I was shocked to discover that I had been significantly overcharged — by around 50% compared to industry-standard pricing.
More recently, I contacted ADT to report a faulty PIR sensor. An engineer was sent out and replaced the unit, but I was given no prior indication of the cost. To my disbelief, I was later billed £700 for a component that retails for approximately £50. This level of overcharging is indefensible.
This experience made it clear to me that ADT operates with little transparency and excessively inflated pricing. I have since cancelled my monitoring contract and switched to another security provider — who offers the same level of service for less than half the cost.
I would never use ADT again and strongly urge anyone considering their services to do thorough research and compare with other providers before committing. In my view, ADT is not just expensive — they are exploitative.
