I am a recovering cardiac surgery and LVAD outpatient with Wythenshawe hospital and as part of my cardiovascular exercise regime I cycle as much as my failing form permits and the weather of course! I’m a member of the @electriccranks cycling group, it’s made up of similar heart condition patients and AVARIS ebikes gifted us one of their marvellous hybrid road bikes. In an attempt to raise funds for New Start Charity Wythenshawe Hospital we have recently completed a fully supported ride of the C2C Route 72 between Bowness on Solway to South Shields over three days 28th-30th June 2022 inclusive. For the record, I had not one single issue with the ebike across the entire 104 miles it is a very reliable ebike, lightweight, so very portable, easily carried unlike some ebikes and remarkably responsive out on the open road. The ebike provides wonderful assistance levels from 1-9 on the toughest of climbs and even below the river Tyne through that very nippy tunnel. I managed to ascend at least one 14% hill through the toughest sections of the Pennines in my condition so a fully able person would be laughing. The Kenda tyres coped admirably with a variety surfaces along the trail without a single puncture from tarmac to loose gravel, overgrown grass and sand. I must also add that it has very quiet brakes even when wet something that can’t be said for a number of mountain ebikes. I’m so pleased with this ebike I don’t want to part with it but appreciate that there are many other outpatients in recovery who would benefit from days out in its very comfortable saddle. In my opinion any determined road cyclist looking to purchase an ebike should consider this AVARIS hybrid road ebike first.
