I am a 77 year old male who was scheduled for ankle fusion. Although some might consider 77 to be elderly I am reasonably fit but I was uncertain whether or not this would be suitable for me having read ( after purchase ) that it was not recommended for over 55s or those who could not balance one one leg for 30 seconds! I believe that this age-limit advice has now been changed. After having spoken to Jerry for advice he convinced me to give it a try. I practised for a few minutes a day for 3 days before ankle surgery to gain confidence which came very quickly. Now having had the surgery a couple of days ago I have discarded crutches for the i-walker and am now hands-free which is much more convenient. Stairs are no longer a problem (just come down backwards!). The instructional videos are extremely clear and helpful. My orthopaedic consultant was impressed and pointed out an additional advantage in that using the i-walker rather than crutches or a knee scooter would help exercise the upper leg and reduce muscle tone loss during the 6 weeks in plaster. Definitely not just for the young and fit we oldies can also benefit!
