"Went with BPL because they were considerably cheaper than any other services. (Apart that is from one other provider but this seemed to have consistently terrible reviews where as BPL had a range from bad to excellent). Was using them for a sale. Was dealt with by Cherry's team. Noticed that Cherry was a conveyancer rather than a solicitor think the name is a bit of marketing tool but wasn't too concerned about using a conveyancer. As expected never actually got to speak to Cherry on the phone but there was always her assistant available on the phone (but often had to ring a few times to get through to her as she was on another call - although could have left a message but preferred to keep trying). Was keen for our side to be not slowing any thing down. At first BPL ask you to fill in various forms was a bit shocked that although many of these forms could be filled in online there was no save option - so as the forms are so long and you won't have all the info to hand this is very difficult. Asked BPL for paper forms but they would not provide them so ended up taking lots of screens shots of the forms printing those out and then filled them in and then submitting forms online when had all the info. So BPL please work on a save function!! Another thing that was annoying at start is that you are requiring to get id info certified but BPL insist this has to be done by a financial institution (but they do allow the post office). This just means there is an extra expense (£10 or so)as all financial instutions will charge. Where as say for our passports we could get vicars,school teachers etc to do it for free. Also the BPL freepost service takes about two weeks to deliver stuff if it arrives at all. My advice is send all stuff recorded and allow for the cost. Once we had got all the stuff to Cherry is seemed fairly efficient this being send to the other side and there questions being raised and passed back to us. I did feel it was wise to keep checking things had arrived and keep asking what the next steps were and when they would be done but as mentioned could always get through on phone and Cherry's assistant Georgina was always very polite so this was not an issue. I think BPL do very much have a system and any requests outside the system will either have an extra charge (listed on the extra charge sheet) or be very difficult to be met (eg wasn't possible to be send paper copies of forms, Find out how long our chain was through the solicitors). We did incur an extra £100 charge for completion and exchange within 5 days. This is in the sheet of extra charges but thought that two weeks was standard. But when our chain suddenly all wanted to do it in three days didn't think it would be wise to say no . So factor the possibility of this charge in as well. But overall glad BPL existed and they got the job done. They are much cheaper and as long as you understand they obviously have a system and are dealing with lots of transactions they seem fine for straight forward sales at least. "
