I had agreed to buy a 2013 Audi A3 from a private seller and had paid a deposit. About a week before l was due to collect the vehicle l did a vehicle check through Cazana. This proved beyond doubt that the car had been "clocked" by about 24,000 miles (it showed an advert from a year earlier showing the mileage) and in addition that the car had been "written off" by an insurance company. I pulled out of the deal immediately and managed to get my deposit refunded about a week later.
