As a parent who values education, I was naturally concerned when my sons maths teacher (at a private school) approached me one afternoon and informed me that my son was struggling in class. According to the teacher, my son was struggling to such an extent that the school was considering moving him down one academic year. As I struggled with mathematics myself, I decided to hire a maths tutor but was shocked to find how much a qualified maths tutor charged, £15-£25 an hour! This was more than I could afford and so I began discussing the prospect of redoing the school year with my son; as expected, he was not happy. I stumbled across conquer maths by chance and enrolled with little hope and few expectations as the subscription price was very cheap. My initial thoughts were very mistaken.. Within one lesson, my son began confidently and correctly answering questions that previously he had no knowledge on. His understanding of maths has greatly improved, his confidence has returned and he is unbelievably enthusiastic about maths. I highly recommend conquer maths for any parent, home educator or teacher who is responsible for teaching children maths. The website is extremely easy to navigate and my son who is 9 (and daughter who is 7) uses the website independently. The lessons are short, clear and concise and methods of calculating are explained in an easy to understand way. After the explanation and examples, there are questions for the child/ren to answer. Reports on children's progress are emailed to the parent/teacher and certificates (bronze, silver, gold or platinum) sent upon completion of each subject- these can be printed at home for future refrence as well as to encourage children and give them incentives to study. Overall I am extremely pleased with my decision to subscribe to conquer maths and highly recommend it.
