I have seriously considered several other options. Buying bags of Kiln Dried Birch, at £24.95 a pop, which burned fiercely well. My wife's choice was to pay as we go, mine was for a 2m cubed crate. Testing two bags of Birch versus the equivalent cubic area of Dalby Ash ended up with the Birch burning for a total of 50hrs versus the Ash burning for 62hrs. Dalby performed much better, around 17%, and convinced my wife that buying Dalby Ash was the right choice. As a bonus, the pallet will provide around about £25 - £50 kindling depending upon your source. If you can be bothered taking out the nails and cutting in up of course.
