I found a part that was similar to what I was looking for and took a chance. The item arrived in a splendid cardboard box. It looked all new and shiny, unlike the rest of my car. Managed to rip off several bits of plastic trim, rip out the old switch (Didn't mention it was a switch...) and fitted the new one. My headlights now work again! Hurrah! And now I have a spare roller wheel thing below the light switch that doesn't actually do anything - but I don't care.
