My first viewing of this film ignited a fascination or the Salton Sea. A year later I have learnt much about the sea's history and revisiting the film was great. Seeing the characters making a life amidst the desolation of the failed resort is inspiring, and the DVDs extra features enhance this, particularly seeing Benny's mother's pride in turning her life around.
The Salton Sea may be a dead sea, but the film is full of life and smiles.
