The item ordered was out of stock, which I knew when ordering. As a consequence, I received confirmation of the order from PayPal but nothing from fotosense themselves - mildly unsettling but not too much so. The payment was taken from my Bank, as anticipated, but still nothing from fotosense. It wasn't until I checked (pretending to order again as a new customer) that I saw the item was now back to available. Then came that egg-on-face moment ....... I queried the status of the order direct with fotosense and literally about 10 minutes later the door bell went. One delivery from fotosense via Royal Mail 'Signed For' service. The main thing lacking in the transaction was communication. No order acknowledgement, no "Sorry, it's out of stock but the target date is xx/xx/xxxx", no notification of despatch, absolutely nothing till the doorbell rang. The actual transaction was handled perfectly satisfactorily but the lack of communication was a little perturbing. OK, not a big order (£70) but not knowing the status of the order has been a little off-putting. Previous transactions with fotosense (for 'in-stock' items) have been flawless and still show up on 'My Account' but this latest still hasn't appeared. At a guess, somehow the order hasn't tied across to previous transactions although the name/address/etc was picked up perfectly. A glitch in the system, no doubt, but just sufficient to take the frissant of pleasure off the order overall. As a side note - it's pretty darned annoying to find that an out-of-stock item reappears but now without postal charges. It's not the cost (£4), just the thought that I've had to wait for restocking when waiting and retaining the money would have had the same end effect but cost less. Tweak needed perhaps?
