Starting with Carrot Insurance, everything was easy, paperwork was sent on time so I can start driving quickly. Very soon things started going wrong.
The Dashboard app is very inaccurate, safe journeys would be shown as a -10 sometimes and journeys would be registered even if I am not using the car. 2 hour journeys will be sometimes shown as 5 minutes. Since the app isn't accurate you can't really keep 'track' of your driving habits and does not allow you to improve.
Carrot's policy states that two speed occasions will result in cancellation of policy. I received a warning the first time, and have been driving carefully since then, received a second warning and I challenged them. Photos were sent as evidence, and no emails were replied back to.
The speeding incident occurred on the 26th July. A car hit my car and drove off illegally on the 5th of July. Acknowledging I had an open claim, Carrot still decided to cancel my insurance on the 18th July. I am currently paying for the full premium even though I have only been driving for 3 months. I still do not have a car because they decided to cancel the policy, but am still paying for rest of the premium.
Carrot may seem appealing at first because of the 'low' prices, but black box is only to attract younger customers but in case of an accident, everything will be against you.
Please stay away, and pay a little extra to go with well known companies - they're well known for a reason.
