My son has a policy with carrot and has been insured with this company since January. He has had one warning in regards to his driving but on average has been a good driver he last week received an email to say that his policy is now being cancelled as he was driving 30 in a 20 zone the week previous. We have since been to look at the road in question and there Is 1 small sign half down the road and 2 others on the road so other than a very small sign on a lamp post how would he have known if other cars covered the signs on the road. The highway code book tells all drivers if you are on a road that has lamp posts you are to assume that the road is a 30 mile an hour road. My argument is that the smallest of signs halfway down a road doesn't warrant full disclosure as they can not tell you where in the road you were driving at speed then how can he be penalised for it. When this is a genuine mistake. This now has caused him much distress and upset at the fact that he may now not get another policy to cover him how do kids have a chance of being able to afford to get cover with things like this when overall his score is always 8.5 and above.
