In the end I was happy with the policy and premium, but it was a bit of a game to get there. Calling and renewing directly with MCE would have cost 15% more than calling and quoting a price I'd got through MCN Compare. Even when I told the MCE renewal staff they said they couldn't match the price and I'd have to call back using the phone number and quote reference from MCN Compare !!! I did this and got exactly the same cover for 15% less. The cover itself is good - I like that track day cover, legal fees, modifications, and breakdown are all included. The compulsory excess is a bit high but everything is a trade off. I don't like that the live chat has limits on what you can do, but to be fair they do call back promptly.
