A dreadful experience. One of the worst culprits for hidden charges. On telling them that I was changing they put up the cost of my car insurance by £250. I asked how much it would cost to cancel the policy and they told me over the phone that there was a £60 cancellation fee, all well and good. They subsequently claimed that they gave me the full sorry story, but they did not. I found a better quote, and came back to cancel, guess what it was now £160 to leave and I was over a barrel. The fact is that they are a broker, although they pose on comparison sites as an insurer. This was not made clear, except buried in the terms and conditions of course, and I had to pay both THEIR broker's cancellation fee AND the REAL insurer's cancellation fee. Why should I have to pay TWO cancellation fees? Why does a broker need to charge a cancellation fee? Avoid and beware. Go with a reputable insurer like Direct Line.
