I have always shopped at House of Fraser in Bristol and liked the store. It has obviously suffered during the C19 pandemic and having moved to Durham (no House of Fraser) I wanted to purchase items I wanted to help the business. However, I've found the online facility difficult to use and wouldn't accept my credit card so I had to go thro' Paypal which was not what I wanted. Then the items weren't right, the colour of the chinos were dark brown instead of the lighter brown I'd ordered and in the photo on the order - the watch was one too big for my wrist and couldn't be altered. What is the point of buying a watch online if you can't alter it to fit your wrist. Also I had to pay for the postage to return the items which, if I simply didn't want them, I would agree with but when they are not suitable this should be paid. I understand this is something initiated by the "new" owner Mike Ashley - say no more - on complaining that I also had £5 taken off the refund, for what I don't know, on complaining I did get the postage repaid which was fair enough. Not a good experience when trying to give business to a British company!
