Let me preface, I work in Korea, & this is a great course with great materials, BUT the price is terrible & it DIDN’T help me get a job. In Korea, only EPIK needs a TEFL or GREATER (get a degree in education instead) but NOT hagwons (they didn’t acknowledge my $1400 TEFL, nor did my recruiter ask for that VERY EXPENSIVE PDF, not even receiving a piece of paper is a rip off). I now work at a private school (a legit private school, NOT the SAME as a hagwon) a they NEVER mentioned it. So if you don’t want to work for EPIK and/or have connections, SAVE yourself the TIME & MONEY. In EPIK, there are people who’ve spent $50 on a TEFL & were accepted. TL;DR: In Korea, an int’l or private school is best, if you have a degree in education, go for the prior, miscellaneous degree + connections, go for the latter. I didn’t get into EPIK, didn’t need it for my hagwon, and my Private School never asked for it.
