I felt very prepared to teach English abroad as a foreign language thanks to International TEFL Academy. I appreciated the chapters on cultural differences between specific cultures. The information I learned about Hofstede's Five Dimensions of a Culture still informs how I interact with my foreign students today. I am also very grateful for the experience I gained from the required observation and teaching practice. It was a relief to have gotten the experience of getting up in front of a class of students for the first time over with before my big move. I am now teaching English as a foreign language in my home country, after returning from 18 months abroad. Part of why I chose ITA was their commitment to supporting me as an ESL teacher for life. I'm grateful to know that ITA will be there to support me should I ever decide to teach abroad again.
