I am writing to express my profound disappointment and disbelief regarding 23andMe’s handling of a serious breach of trust. As a loyal customer, I was shocked to learn—through external sources, no less—that their system had been compromised due to a hacking incident. What I find most troubling is that, to date, I have received no formal notice, email, or any form of communication from 23andMe to inform me of this breach and the potential risks it poses to my personal information.
Adding insult to injury, I was recently invited to confirm my consent to share my personal data with their platform. This request, coming on the heels of such a significant security failure, is not only tone-deaf but feels deeply intrusive. I am appalled by the lack of transparency and proactive communication, which has left me feeling violated and disrespected as a customer.
This experience has been profoundly distressing, and I feel sickened by the thought that my most sensitive data may have been mishandled or exposed. I am placing my hope in the legal team handling this matter to hold 23andMe accountable for this egregious lapse in responsibility.
