I had a cataract operation at King George hospital Ilford last Wednesday. I arrived at the ward with my husband and was almost growled at. No smile, no good morning, just he can't stay, I was pretty shocked at the way I was greeted. It was like a conveyor belt. I sat in the waiting room for well over an hour after my appointment time. I was then told to wait in another room where there was chairs around the walls. The health care team were putting drops in people's eyes. As one came back the op the next one was on the table. Dr Bobby Paul and his team was very nice and professional. The operation took a very short time. I was then told to sit back in the chair I was in before having the operation, as you leave your bag etc under the chair. You are then given a cup of tea no sooner than you drank it I was told to go back to the first waiting room to await my husband who was going to pick me up. I felt as though they wanted you in and out of the building as quick as possible. The Nurses had no manners at all, and no bedside manners although it was a chair. I did not feel confident in them. I felt like a nuisance. It seems to me Nurses and Health care workers need to do courses every year to be reminded on how to care and treat poeple and bed/chair side manners. One of them was eating the biscuits from the tin of biscuits given to the patients after the procedure. Needs improvement big time.
