Hi, so i’ve never failed a MOT test before due to the fact that i take my motor to my personal mechanic prior to the test in making sure it passes. I couldn't go to my usual MOT place this time round so i thought i would do it else where for this one time. I decided to book with charlton kwik fit. Then, when i came back to collect my motor after the test, i had found out i had failed, this is not what i was upset about. I was just surprised i had failed, the gentleman on the other end of the phone who rang me to say my car was ready to collect also quoted me a £300+ for the apparent fault and needing the repair and parts done. Thats when i was shocked. I took it to another mechanic and they said I've been ripped off and taken for a fool. They said my shock absorber had leaked becoming a major fault. Both my mechanics checked the faults they had reported on my MOT test and had found no faults whats so ever. To top it off, my MOT test also stated my license plate bulb was not working. I literally turned the car on when collecting to check and they were fine. “Oh, it wasn't working when we tested it. When you book in another test (£35) we’ll just pass it. So both the faults they had stated were infact false. This is a disgrace and the last time im ever going to think about approaching another kwik fit. I will definitely not be referring anyone to kwik fit again.
