Lion stock a very comprehensive range of framing materials, tools and accessories.
Customer service is first class and delivery performance is likewise excellent.
Product quality is normally of a consistently high standard but there have been a few instances of a drop in quality, mainly in the accessories category due to what may be a change of supplier or change of specification. 2 specific examples, of reatively small importance, which have been raised with Lion but without response.
These are -
Handywrap(6306) Not long ago the Lion website made a point of mentioning that thinner grade options were available on the market from other suppliers. All of a sudden this message was withdrawn and guess what....Lion now use that same inferior, flimsier grade of handy wrap that other suppliers use.
No explanation!
Canvas offsets (5802 and possibly others) I use these with canvas L frames which are 12mm thick to attach canvas on stretcher bars to the frame. Problem is the dimensions of the offset and hole positions were changed and now there is a possibility of the tray frame splitting due to the screw being too close to its edge. This is a definite change in design spec which has arisen one way or another and not been picked up by Lion quality control.
Likewise, no explanation but I have just noticed that there is now a new slotted version of this offset, 10627 without an image and not in stock on the website. Had I not checked the website to confirm the part number I would not be aware of the new product! I also see it is double the price of 5802 which was perfectly acceptable as it was before someone changed it!!! This leads to another gripe in that new product introduction is sadly lacking, unless its important like a moulding or an expensive bit of kit.
It would be interesting to receive some kind of explanation or response.
