I bought two packs of "double knit bunting kit" and one of "chunky bunting kit" and some more double knit that I haven't used yet.
I was disappointed the chunky kit pattern was using American stitch terms. I am an experienced crocheter and knitter but could not make sense of the pattern ending up making up my own pattern.
Row 3 says inc in first sc ... while row 5 says inc in next sc ... when no stitch has yet been made in that row!
Row 9 says Inc, 7sc, inc, ch1 and turn when it should say says Inc, 9 sc, inc, ch1 and turn,
Row 11 says Inc, 13sc, inc, ch1 and turn when it should say says Inc, 11sc, inc, ch1 and turn.
It continues in the same way!
I then embroidered the colours on in long stitch rather than cross stitching them as I wanted the bunting to be correct back and front.
The knitting pattern asked me to knit two flags and stitch them together which I felt would make the flags too stiff so again I modified the pattern to lie flat. I did not want to embroider the Union Flag on it so worked it in Fair Isle (working with 7 small balls of wool!).
After three flags I got bored with the knitting so used them to decorate a hat and made the rest into a Jubilee gilet which has been much admired!
The yarn and hooks/ needles are very good but the patterns are disappointing.
