Absolutely a time waster and not helpful.
First of all, my wife and I both have excellent credit scores, mine is 906/1000, and my wife's is 921/1000. Unfortunately, our mortgage was turned down by our current lender Halifax, just before completion due to an error involving a late payment on a Barclays card. So, we found ourselves a couple of months behind and panicked that 3 of our school age kids' September term, our home buyer and new home vendor are waiting, so we were recommended Moneybox by a friend, who said they could be helpful and act quickly.
However, it was nothing like what I expected. It took days to understand their system, complete the forms, upload the required documents, and then wait for an appointment—which was phone-only, not a video call. We were then contacted by a broker named Carmina Simion. Based on my 10 times mortgage experience, she was not helpful at all and lacked the patience to listen or even try to assist.
We simply received an email stating that she couldn’t help us because we "can’t afford the new mortgage", because one of our BTL property that is currently on sale (empty with a mortgage). This completely ignored the fact that we’ll have over £100k in cash after sold. Frankly, this judgment was shocking and even worse than the overly strict Halifax!
I sent follow-up emails to both the broker and Mitch from Moneybox—neither replied. We’ve now lost a couple of valuable weeks we simply couldn’t afford to waste. If you have a perfect financial background, maybe give them a try. But if your situation is even slightly complex and you’re looking for helpful, patient service—sorry, not here. At least not with the broken I dealt with. Good luck people!!!
