I had a hard time understanding,, how margin and leverage work and how to calculate the position size when I am executing a trade. All advice I could find online was about the profit ratio suggesting that I need to aim for 1:2 reward ratio, but not useful advice on how to calculate the position size.

It does the job for you. For each instrument. You put your base currency, your instrument, and even your account level into calculating the precise lot size.
