I have bought compatible HP 301 XL colour and black cartridges from Printer Basics and the quality seems just as good as HP originals to me, and I make a lot of greetings cards using A4 photographic paper.
I did have one issue of a colour cartridge not working, and there was no problem in requesting a replacement and returning the faulty one. I must say I have found the staff extremely polite and helpful.
