As somebody who worked for conservative mid west US company this bit of quiet rebellion was perfect. It allowed just a dash of colour which suited the company culture but those unique patterns when you took your shoes off. This made for interesting conversations in Japan when shoes come off regularly.
On wear , I have been customer since the start and I have still to put a hole in any of my buys..
