I've tried and used a lot of other instant meals and for many years made my own with a dehydrator.
If you are a large party and not in a rush and can carry a lot of fuel, 4-person DIY meals with a dehydrator are nice, communal, etc.
But for one or two-person teams nothing beats Radix. Most other meals are 2-person. Radix is one person. That's fine! And I solo hike a lot now. Other 2-person meals you can usually reseal for the next day but inconvenient, etc,
I do the communal thing too sharing deserts, chocolate, etc. but knowing I can cook a meal for myself in 10mts is huge. I hike fast.
