My purchase of the Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight coat in dark olive, size 54, was outstanding in every regard. Shipping was fast and delivery across the Atlantic Ocean to my home in Wilmington, Delaware (USA), took only one week. Packaging and instructions were good. The size was true and fit my 54" American frame comfortably and with ample room in shoulders and chest. The quality and fit and performance of the Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight coat are exceptional. Living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the United States, weather and temperature range from oppressively hot and humid in the summer months to icy cold and wet and snowy in the wintertime. I purchased the Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight for rainy humid conditions knowing that the quality would be first rate but also thinking, from the pictures available online, that the garment would (for lack of a better way to say it) fall on the economy end of the line. Much to my additional pleasure, the coat is exceptional and the fabric of the Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight looks and feels splendid. Yesterday the weather was 94 degrees Fahrenheit, almost tropically humid, and hinting at showers and thunderstorms. My new Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight exceeded expectations. It was light, waterproof, and wonderfully breathable such that I hardly felt the humidity at all. The only downside for Schoffel, perhaps, is that I had intentions of also buying the Extreme coat for winter months. I may still do so but it's entirely possible that the Schöffel Ptarmigan Ultralight is the perfect garment for both summer and winter. I can easily see myself snugly outfitted in the Ultralight this winter bolstered only with an additional sweater or blazer underneath to stylishly and functionally find protection from the elements.
