Since I first discovered Gentleman’s Gazette I have enjoyed much they have to offer.
I already possessed appreciation of and expertise in classic men’s clothing owing to my stepfather, who was a master tailor, and owned a well know custom men’s clothing store in Connecticut, when I became acquainted with Gentleman’s Gazette.
My first introduction to GG was through its videos, which are thoroughly enjoyable, and offer both professional advice and anecdotal information that is invaluable, difficult to find and entertaining, sometimes comedic and always a delight to watch, covering many dozens of topics.
I soon discovered their shop, and at first I was hesitant to make purchases of high quality items online. I had mostly shopped in fine men’s clothing stores and vintage shops in NYC and Europe. I enjoy the shopping experience and touching and feeling merchandise.
I’m also very tall, difficult to fit and have high standards of quality, so unless an online seller provides detailed measurements and high quality goods it’s often not the best use of time, and has been disappointing.
Fortunately, The Gentleman’s Gazette shop does provide good measurements and delivers on quality, though my first experience with their socks did not to start off very well. I was happy when I received the socks, but when I tried them on they were not as soft as I expected and the fit seemed a bit odd. I soon realized it was necessary to wash and dry them before they achieved the desired softness and fit, and have been buying them ever since.
I have bought many socks from Budd Shirts of London, Paul Stuart in Manhattan and other fine men’s stores but my favorite are, hands down, the made to size socks from The Gentleman’s Gazette Shop. For value, comfort and quality they cannot be beat. Just be certain to wash before you wear them.
Gentleman’s Gazette Shop is an online accessories store and I have not only purchased their socks but their boutonnières, gloves and pocket squares.
I probably wouldn’t be wearing a boutonnière most days if it weren’t for the very high quality of GG’s. I have comparison shopped and what is available around the globe is embarrassing. They are poorly made, look fake from any distance and I imagine end up in the trash.
Somehow, GG was able to get their hands on antique pre World War II dies and find and German source to replicate the high quality of manufacture that make their boutonnières a stand out. You may think $40 is expensive for a boutonnière but not when you see these. They are extraordinary!
Their boutonnières are incredibly lifelike, and GG has a film documenting the fabrication process - fascinating to watch! No one every thinks my boutonnières are fake. I have purchased about a dozen of them, and even though I’m a gardener and have some great options for a genuine live button hole, the GG product is so authentic looking I almost never bother with my own flowers.
More recently I purchased several pairs of gloves. Their peccary gloves are very high quality and better than my last pair and the fit is spot on. I particularly love the unlined burgundy suede gloves I bought last fall. They are a lovely color and I plan to purchase more of these suede gloves.
Lastly, a word about their pocket squares. They are made for GG and while the quality is fine and they are hand rolled it’s the size that’s important. I don’t want to mislead anyone but I believe they are all 14” X 14”; the perfect size for a pocket square! Much smaller and it sinks down into your breast pocket getting lost, and much larger it’s bulging. They have a wide variety, something for everyone!
I look forward to sampling more of what The Gentleman‘s Gazette shop has to offer. I love their videos and have only ever been very pleased with their merchandise. Anyone who appreciates classic men’s clothing and high quality at an affordable price you will thoroughly enjoy Gentleman’s Gazette Shop as much as I do.
