Two words I would use to describe the Sri Lankan people would be pride and community. The level of kindness and hospitality I received in my month here was overwhelming. I feel honoured to have learnt so much about this beautiful country and about its people that are so dedicated to preserving its nature, history and each other in varying communities. The SLV volunteering programme gave me the chance to not only experience a different culture with its food, nature and people but also within the context of different rehabilitation centers, dementia care homes and SEN schools. To learn and help support others within these communities was incredible and I am forever grateful to Kelum and everyone else who helped me along the way. Thank you! I will definitely be coming back 🙏🏽
