The magnetic link makes it very easy to leave the plug in the phone or other device so that it reduces wear on the charging port. However, you do need to have several cables in order to be able to charge the phone in multiple locations to take advantage of the magnetic link. But, that isn't a big issue. Where we did find a minor issue is that despite the more flexible swivel connection at the charging port, it isn't any less prone to breaking connection in the car. When using Spotify or other app through the car, we prefer using the USB connection and that requires a data connection. We specifically did get data cables for this because the previous standard cable we were using was prone to losing the data connection if the phone was moved. We had hoped that the swivel connection on the magnet would be more stable and provide a more constant connection, but this has not proven to be the case. So, similar to a standard data cable, moving the phone much or a moderate bump would cause the data connection to be lost and may involve unplugging of the phone or cable in order to reestablish a connection so that the Google Maps, Spotify, and other app options would display and be accessible properly.
Other than this issue, which as noted is also an issue with standard cables, we are enjoying the Statik cables and the magnetic connection and purchased enough to be able to have one ready for charging purposes in the primary places where we may be using a phone to the point of the battery needing to be charged.
