Being able to pre-order online is very helpful. Despite the Christmas rush the staff were coping competently and cheerfully as usual. One small problem was that i was given the impression that Sterling cheques are encouraged at the till and when i presented my cheque the staff member immediately called a Credit Card merchant's number for authorisation. This held up the queue and no code was obtained. Eventually i had to use a Credit Card. I called my bank that evening and was told that Cheques no longer need a guarantee card nor authorisation as long as there are funds in the account to cover the amount. A lesson to be learnt I think!
