I have recently relocated from Australia and spent the first part of the year trying out different trade training centres to get into plumbing and tiling. I decided to specialise in tiling but had a bad experience at a centre down south where I felt like I'd wasted my money and learnt very little. I persevered with my research and heard about UK Pro Tiling. It had really good reviews and I was attracted to the fact that they teach you the business side, not just putting up tiles. When I contacted them Tracey was extremely friendly and welcoming and explained everything about the courses on offer. I chose the 9 day (two week) option. I was especially happy that they could organise local accommodation, and even factored my dog into the arrangements! Once I arrived at the course, although I was the only female, I felt at ease and comfortable. The course is very well run and the atmosphere is welcoming but professional. You have to work hard, and we weren't there to slack off! The course covered every aspect of tiling practice and theory, and we had opportunities to observe as well as plenty of time to learn to do it ourselves. Darren was available throughout and was good at helping enough whilst still making you think for yourself. I was particularly happy to learn the details of how to run a small business, and the information Darren passed on was invaluable. I had only a very basic knowledge of this side of things, so this aspect of the course, even by itself, was gold dust for me. By the end of the course I felt confident in the skills I had acquired, and happy to embark on setting up my own tiling business. I was reassured that if I needed to ask any questions I could get support from UK Pro Tiling on the phone/email. I have now established Tin Whistle Tiling and, although it's early days, I have two big floor jobs coming up, and am looking forward to growing the business in 2017. Having tried two other trades training centres I would recommend UK Pro Tiling every time. Darren and Tracey are friendly, honest, knowledgeable and approachable, and the course fee is money well spent if you want to start your own business. The location can put people from the south off, but it was well worth the journey for the high quality of training.
