As a revert to Islam, I found attending the butcher daunting. When I did go I was sometimes taken advantage of with expiring meat or inflated prices. I found it hard to find the quality meat I was once used to buying from supermarkets, especially free-range produce. Eventually I looked into the difference of scholarly opinion regarding eating meat from the people of the book and decided to consume non-halal-certified meat as England was a Christian country. I stopped giving my money to dishonest butchers, and stopped buying poor quality halal-certified meat. Until now, Alhamdulilah. Saffron Alley was mentioned to me and I checked them out. Alhamdulilah I’ve had a great experience. I didn’t have to take time out of my day to attend a butcher shop, delivery was straight to my door. It was fresh and quality items. Alhamdulilah. I’m very happy and have recommended to friends. May Allah continue to place barakah in honest businesses who care for the well-being of animals and consumers. I’m recommending to other reverts who find butchers daunting, I’m sure they’ll appreciate the clear pricing on the website, the ability to describe how they’d like meat cut/prepared and the quality of items. Coming from a life if just picking a clearly priced, pre-packaged item off a shelf, to dealing with butchers can be quite a change to get used to, thank you for making it easier.
