I have purchased tea from Twinnings for many years and everything was fine until Brexit. The last time i placed my order was June 2022 and I had to pay a small charge for the delivery. I live in Spain. it was 20% of the cost of the tea bags and a few euros for a fee. This order was a disaster. I placed my order for 4 boxes of Earl Grey tea bags and when they arrived in Spain I received an email from the post office - Corroes instructing me to complete various forms in order to import the 400 tea bags. i completed the forms to the best of my ability and then went through a week or so of correspondence with the post office concerning my limited ability to fill them in correctly. I even received a Burofax as a final hastener and informing me I was not performing very well. The final correspondence was telling me where to pay the fifty-plus euros to have the tea bags delivered to my address. 400 tea bags, 4 boxes. That seems to be excessive.
I have not paid the money and have not received the tea bags. When I contacted Twinnings, to offer to send the paperwork to them so that they might establish how this has happened and if there had been any mistake with the paperwork for this order when it was dispatched, they pointed to the conditions that stated that import duties are my responsibility. My offer to send the paperwork was so they could establish if there had been any errors on their part and maybe as an assistance to other customers living in Europe. Brexit is the gift that just keeps on giving. I do not know how the situation changed between June last year and now but clearly something has. I am so far about £25 out of pocket for the cost of the tea bags and postage to Twinnings but it is not ort h paying the 50 euros on top of that. sadly, Goodbye Twinnings
