On Saturday 29th October I had Tyres on the Drive come out and remove a locking wheel nut. The website reads "you could potentially save yourself £££s as our pricing far outweighs the cost to repair any damage caused to your rims, tyres or wheel nuts by trying yourself" - unfortunately this wasn't the case as whilst swinging a lump hammer, he missed the intended target and took a large chunk out of my alloy wheel - i'm pretty sure I could've done that myself.
He then asked me to sign a document, which I assumed was to confirm that he had completed the work. Nothing was explained to me so I just signed it - definitely my mistake. As it turned out, that was a waiver that I should have signed before to say any damage isn't their fault... I understand if the operation itself causes damage but this was sheer user error and bad practice, not the correct process.
When he damaged the wheel, I decided it was pointless to have a go at him, as it wouldn't resolve anything and he isn't the complaints team so can't resolve the problem. I can just contact TotD and log my complaint with them.
I received an email back today to explain that the damage isn't their fault, it's mine because I signed that form. So I'll probably have to fork out a couple of hundred pounds for a new alloy wheel now or at the very least pay about £100 for someone to try and refurb that one.
I was planning on getting new tyres from TotD soon too, probably would have set me back about £600 but I think with the appalling service and complete ignorance to accountability, I'll take my business elsewhere.
