I called to ask if they offer a certified copying service, for my driving licence. The receptionist (perhaps in a call centre?) said it was best to go in after 2pm, when their people are back from lunch. When I arrived, I was left waiting for a while. Aware of the time ticking on, the receptionist asked a solicitor who had popped downstairs if she would do it, and she agreed. When I handed her the photocard, she asked for a photocopy of the card. I queried this and said I'd never been asked for this before. "Well, I've ONLY been doing this for 30 years," she replied. I told them to forget it, and that I'm not going to be patronised and belittled in this way.
I went to another solicitor straight after who did it immediately and politely. I explained what had happened, and they confirmed they'd never had an instance where a client had brought in a photocopy before.
This woman was arrogant, rude and condescending, and I wouldn't hesitate to spread the word about this. Her behaviour fulfilled the stereotype of solicitors.
