Mrs Debbrah Flower
Stayed at golden coast. What was good. The facilities on park were good for the children. Although the site could do with an overhaul (looks a bit tired and faded). The staff are friendly and helpful, and food was better then expected. The prices of the activities where good (not overpriced) What was bad. However the accommodation was awful. Mould around the windows on then window frames and on walls. Mould on the ceiling in our bedroom, The whole place smelt damp and mouldy even after windows open and heating on. Hygiene and cleaning was poor. Our feet were dirty after 15 minutes of being in lounge on 1st day. The sofa had not been moved or cleaned under in months (the debris and cobwebs under there were testament to this). The sofa itself was awful (smelt terrible, of damp dog) and it was knackered (had to put four cushions and a duvet under the sofa cushions to give it some support otherwise it collapsed when you sat on it. The beds are very uncomfortable (rock hard with no support, came home with a bad back and left a day earlier due to accommodation standards) and the bedding duvets were cheep and too small. The shower in the bathroom was akin to something you might find in a 1970's 2 star B and B (small and pokey) and the boarding that had been put on wasn't even securely fixed to the tiles it had been fitted over (I dread to think of the mould growing behind it). The curtains hardly fit the windows (too short - looks like they had shrunk in the wash as the liner was visible) and not wide enough. I had to put bath towels up at the window to keep the light out of the room the curtains where so ineffective. All in all very poor. The wifi was also very poor. When trying to book things on lined, the paid wifi (at 40 pounds a device) was very very poor. Kept dropping out and very minimal to zero coverage at the lodge making booking activities frustrating and difficult. Even for basic accommodation this is unacceptable and not as described or advertised on the web site (the photography made it all look so much better). The visit to Woolacombe bay park was a much better experience. Nicer more modern surroundings. Great pool and lovely cinema. Its such a shame the accommodation was so poor at Golden Coast, as it spoilt what would otherwise have been a lovely experience. Regards Mrs Debbrah Flower
