Okay, so a realistic review of Urban Book Publishers should start with my previous experience with another publisher, to put things in perspective. Initially I self-published with some other company and, although the price of publishing wasn't too terribly bad, the books I received (from my allotment) seemed kind of expensive and they didn't do anything to help me market the book or sellt he book other than to list it on Amazon. Fast forward anotehr year and I decided instead of breaking up this first book into three books as a series, I threw the whole thing together and wonder how I was going to put this out. Serendipitously, Urban Book caught my attention and offered me a really good deal to get my book started. I actually signed a contract in which, for the price paid for their services, was something the first company didn't do. The contract laid out exactly what Urban Book was going to do and they even placed a guarantee to sell a certain amount of books or my money back. No questions asked. Richard Brown was the one who contacted me and walked me through the process, which I greatly appreciated, even introducing me to the legal department to talk to the lawyers about another expense (copyright protection and defense). Recently, I was shown the different media outlets that Urban was putting out press releases to drum up interest in my book. Lo and behold, just a couple of weeks ago, I was sent a letter from Barnes and Noble stating that they had read my manuscript (thanks to Urban for sending it in) and that they were asking to place a minimum of 3,000 of my books on the shelves of 10 stores across the country! I was out of my mind with happiness that my book was read and recognized as something one of the largest outlets for books wanted for their shelves! This was all thanks for Richard and his team at Urban who did what they said they would do. So far, they have gone above and beyond what my other publisher did. I cannot thank Urban enough for getting me to this point in my writing career.
