“The site gave me plenty of quotes. However, several of the quotes (Halifax, Lloyds and M&S) were more expensive when I clicked through to purchase and it was very frustrating to not be able to buy the cheapest quote but to have to keep clicking through until I found one that was actually the same price as on the go compare site (Quote me happy)”

This is determined by the insurer based on the risk presented to them such as your driving experience, vehicle details, age etc. However, prices are based on real time pricing and subject to change, which means if you return at a later time to purchase the policy, the previous price is not held for you and an updated quotation will be provided.
