“We had what amounted to a big order from Lion. We had dealt with them many times before and had always been pleased with service and back up. We had no intention of getting in to framing but like most of the planet Covid changed our direction and we had no alternative. We experienced above and beyond help from Lion and as we progressed pretty much making it up as we went along they helped us greatly. We needed to upgrade and just as we had 'boom' along came an unforeseen situation that caused both ourselves and Lion an issue and then some. After a couple of hairy days we had a conversation with Shane and explained the situation. After picking himself up we discussed things like adults and we both agreed on a path forward. I know this all sounds a bit vague but there was a health issue and that's all I can say on that. Anyway the crux of the review is this. We hit a hard bump on the road and Shane stuck with us, no shouting no panic just above and beyond service and after much sweat the situation was resolved for both parties. Oh and Will helped also ;) I can't tell you what to do or where to go for framing supplies etc but what I can tell you is this is my destination simply because in this day and age of cut throat do anything to get the deal type of industry it's reassuring to know that we're all just people trying to walk each other a little further up the road and it's greatly appreciated when others share the same view. “I have been using Lion for many years - 2006 to date - there simply isn't another supplier that has their range + price+ service. I honestly do not think I have ever had a problem in 18 years of buying from them. They just get it right first time - every time . Many thanks Lion!”

“In most ways Lion is my preferred supplier. However your use of bubble wrap is unbearable. It goes against everything that as a country we are trying to achieve. I buy from multiple suppliers and it’s only you who use this material. I suggest you place an order with DJ Simon’s and see how they do it. Perfect. All recyclable. Please do better in this area. Very disappointing.”

Thanks for your review. Please be assured we are conscious of the need to reduce packaging waste but it is a balance, since inadequate protection leads to more damage in transit; in previous trials of alternatives to bubble wrap, rates of impact damage became unacceptably high and generated a lot of replacement deliveries. However, we have recently switched to a minimum 30% recycled plastic bubble wrap, which some customers re-use to wrap finished work, and we are about to start a trial of air-filled quilts which can be deflated and recycled along with plastic bags. We also have an ongoing programme to minimise the number of stock products we pack in plastic bags and use a ‘zero to landfill’ waste contractor - our waste is sorted into flexible plastic, single use plastic, metal, cardboard / paper, wood and food waste ready to be recycled or composted. Anything leftover is sent to generate green energy.

“This was my first big order of frame moulding (66m) and I was delighted with the response. The order arrived very promptly. The mouldings all appeared in good condition and were well-wrapped. The included glossy brochure with life-size photographs of all the mouldings and a guide to framing were both welcome.”

“Easy to navigate website, stock holdings are normally sufficient to avoid out of stock items. On the occasions that I have experienced damages (due to carries, not packaging) replacements are sorted in a timely manner. From my own dealings, Shane especially could not be any more helpful and definitely deserving of an individual mention.”
