“Our dog absolutely loves his new recycled wool blanket - it's a great size, soft, a great colour and a really lovely, classy herringbone pattern too. It's his blanket for the car and he seems very happy on it!”

“This is my second blanket from Tartan Blanket Co. (the first non-panic one has had a permanent spot on our couch for over a year now). It did feel a bit indulgent to spend as much as we did on a picnic blanket, but we'll be doing a of those this year, it seems. The blanket arrived just in time for our inaugural pinic at Greenwich Park, so I can vouch for the water-proofing and warmth. I also love how the embroidery turned out (definitely worth it), and I feel this is one of those things we'll end up keeping until we're old. P.S. The cat loves the box--he's been glued to it for the past 3 days. I haven't had the heart to recycle it yet.”

“A lovely knee rug, just right for evenings in this cool spring weather. Had a 'woolley' smell at first, but after a blow in the air has reduced. It will become a firm friend I am sure & I love the gentle tartan colour mix.”

What you’re smelling is lanolin (or “wool wax”). It’s a natural oil sheep produce that give their wool that super important waterproofing property. We soak all of our recycled wool in vegetable oil to break it down before washing, but for some woolly blankets, the lanolin scent just happens to hang around a bit longer. I'm glad that after a quick airing this has faded and the smell will continue to fade over time :). Our Recycled Wool can also be popped in the washing machine on a cool wool wash at 30c so it might be worth giving this a try if airing doesn't seem to help and this should get things freshened up for you.
