Very satisfied with the care provided to our very poorly dog ... vets kept us updated about her progress regularly. Unfortunately she did not survive. Very expensive though as we did not have insurance!

Our cat needed an emergency procedure at the weekend. VetsNow were able to take him in immediately and provided all the care he needed, and probably saved his life. He was discharged to his regular vet after 2 nights and is now doing well. We were given regular updates by phone and a detailed report when he was discharged. The staff we spoke with were professional and attentive (we could not really see them due to Covid restrictions). It is a costly service but in these circumstances it is a life saver.

My dog was so poorly, and as he can be quite aggressive they were amazing.

Hi Mrs Johnson. I know it can be frustrating having to pay for an unplanned trip to the vets. Much like it is for other out-of-hours services in other industries, it's more expensive to run an out-of-hours pet emergency service than a general daytime practice. We've broken down where our costs go here if you'd like to find out more: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/ If you’d like to query your bill, discuss our level of service or speak to us about anything we’re here for you on customersupport@vets-now.com

Really happy and grateful for the care you provided to my cat. The triage process was quicker than expected. Due to the pandemic we had to wait in the car but we were given details of nearby shops and toilet facilities. My cat was admitted for 3 days and during that time I was kept informed twice a day. The vet always spent as much time as I needed on the phone and I never felt rushed. When my cat was discharged, I got a full discharge summary with detailed instructions for the medications I’d been given, and details of what I could do next if my cat didn’t recover. Fortunately she made a full recovery at home after the supportive care she has received. In terms of fees, everything was sorted out directly with the insurance company which saved me a lot of extra stress. If my cat had to be referred back to Vets Now I would feel confident that they would give her the best care and keep me informed, which is a big relief to know.

My dog came to you after being run over. I expected her to be x-rayed and scanned neither of these things were done but was given plenty of expensive pain killers and others things enough probably to have kept her comatosed. I took her home and saw what you had given her snd I was extremely annoyed at the amount of drugs on there. And the price £1400 ridiculous. I will be getting a second opinion. So you will be hearing from me

When our dog suddenly became very sick, vets now immediately accepted him as a patient. They ran all relevant tests and contacted us to keep us updated, when they could. I felt that every staff member I spoke to did everything they could to answer my questions and explain what was happening so that I had a full understanding of the situation. The phone was always answered when I called. I’ll always be grateful that vets now ensured my dog returned to full health and would never hesitate to leave him in their care. However, they were very busy with lots of animals when our dog was admitted, which meant that staff were not able to update us as they had hoped to and when our dog was returned to us, he was very smelly, as if he had been lying in urine (although this isn’t great, I think this was due to the illness he was suffering and the staff having to do what they could to help all animals in their care)!!

Vet care by the staff was exceptional. This would have been 5 stars were it not for the exceptional costs even considering out of hours. £16.50 pet insurance admin cost when I did the application online and all you had to do was send them the bill. Outrageous!

Vets Now are used by my own vets as their out of hours service. I noticed a small wound under by 14 week old rabbits eye at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening and so phoned for an emergency appointment, knowing that any issues with rabbits can escalate quickly, my rabbit saw a vet and was prescribed eye drops for the wound. I asked to be given antibiotics as well as stressed and I’ll rabbits can develop Statis which can be life threatening and we were told that Vets now are an emergency vet and only treat what they can Sean’s to see our own vet Monday. Sadly our rabbit did indeed already have Statis and deteriorated very quickly Saturday overnight. By the time my vets had a vet on site at 9am Sunday it was too late to save our baby bunny. I believe that vets now inexperienced vet(s) yes two consulted on my rabbit, caused unnecessary suffering to our rabbit and caused her death.

My terminally ill female spaniel was examined by Vets Now in Reading, October 2020. I was not there for the examination but was called on my mobile phone afterwards. The vet consistently referred to my female dog as ‘he’ and completely failed to grasp why I had brought her to the surgery. I was charged £192.50 for a worthless examination and an equally worthless conversation. Absolutely appalling!

So our cat became ill late on Saturday. We don’t have our own vet yet as we’ve just returned from abroad 10 days ago and we’re still in quarantine. I was told by Vets Now Preston just to examine our cat would cost £220 which seemed excessive, (Vets4Pets charge a £34 consultation fee during the week) but hey they have you by the short and curlies because there isn’t another emergency vet in the immediate area and you don’t want to see your pet suffer. Plus we could not leave the house as we were quarantining. We waited to see if what we thought was constipation would resolve itself, but by morning he was no better, so he had to go in. Slightly less charge of £170 as it wasn’t an evening call, but it was a Sunday. He had a blockage in his bladder and total costs just for the emergency vet is £1400. I’m waiting for a breakdown. I will be challenging the call out fees and will reserve judgment on the rest of the bill until I receive a breakdown. 7 times a ‘normal’ exam fee, to me, is excessive and is taking advantage of pet owners who don’t choose when their pet gets sick, but obv don’t want their pet to be in pain until 9-5 on a week day. I accept that you pay more for out of hours, but 7x more? I also have additional fees for his follow on treatment including another (admittedly much less) consultation fee from Vets4Pets, because they deal with his ‘in hours‘ treatment which may continue a few more days. That’s going to be at least another £260, possibly another £780. Vets Now will be monitoring his out of hours care while he’s at Vets4Pets Preston surgery. I’m sure the treatment he had and is currently receiving is good (although because of Covid I cannot check on him or the treatment). I’m just very disappointed that I had to agree to the outrageous price as there was no alternative (unless you call euthanasia an alternative) and delayed treatment because it was so high. If the price had been more reasonable, I would not have waited until Sunday morning to send him in. Unfortunately I don’t have a case number as I have not received a final invoice, nor receipt for the 50% deposit.
